Holy God

I lift up Donald Trump, the currant occupant of the White House, in whose hands rest an enormous amount of power, and I pray Holy One, that you will with astonishing grace pierce through the hardness of his heart that has led him to behave in such reprehensible ways. Holy One, Trump’s words and actions are rooted in racism, bigotry, narcissism, and an insatiable lust for power. This is plain for people to see, whether they will admit it or not. Holy God, I pray that your truly amazing grace would envelop Mr. Trump and permeate his soul to such an extent that he can no longer call Mexicans “rapist” or say that the beautiful nations of the African continent are “shithole countries” or that he can simply “grab ’em by the pussy” in reference to your female children. In the face of such powerful grace, he would longer will he be able to con people out of their hard earned money by being a grifter, a liar, and a cheat. No longer would he be able to enact racist policies such as creating for-profit concentration camps full to overflowing with asylum seekers and other immigrants. Your amazing grace if truly embraced would heal his hurts and allow him to put down the burdens of racism and bigotry he wields as weapons. It would allow him to repent and ask for forgiveness from those whom he has hurt through his words and actions. He would be able to find the peace that surpasses all understanding.  Please lead him to that peace.

Holy Father, this would of course be a miracle. His history of perfidy, racism, and sexual predation is long and well documented. Yet, nothing is impossible with you Holy Mother, so I pray for this miracle of grace as I imagine the shock of a nation and the bewilderment of the world should it occur. I imagine him standing behind his podium and telling the world he repented of the sins  of racism, theft, sexual assault, pathological lying, and bigotry, all because of God’s awesome grace. How truly awe inspiring that would be.

God, you are mysterious and a worker of miracles. Bless this world now, with the miracle of Trump’s repentance and may it lead to an outpouring of repentance, grace, and agape’ love among peoples of every place, ethnicity, and faith. May your kindom come and your will be done.
