Volume one of my forthcoming collection of essays will be released in August by Quoir Publishing.
In his book “Theological Musings” author Dillon Cruz identifies his calling to Public Theology which he defines as “the disciplined articulation of Christian Theologies and faith praxis contributing to interdisciplinary and diverse search for a common public good.” There is no doubt this book contributes to the public good. His online blog—The Tattooed Theologian—is committed to diversity of thought and deliberateness of practical application. These books are a select collection of essays from his blog, previously unpublished essays, and from his academic studies . He has arranged the essays by topically and this showcases his wide and deep knowledge of diverse subjects such as Christian Nationalism, Permaculture, Church History, LGBTQIA intersectionality, Pacifism, and Economic Equity. I have followed Dillon Twitter for several years and he impacts me by his powerful observations on the world in which we dwell. These volumes show how much he cares about culture, the planet, and the marginalized. He takes pains to make pointed observations, and then even more carefully backs up his statements. He doesn’t throw out sharp comments; instead he cuts with scalpel-like precision. He takes on the powerful in politics (eg. Former President Trump), the church (eg. The SBC), and even societal movements (eg. Domination Systems). And though Dillon Cruz is thorough, he is not tedious. I recommend these books for any serious thinker who wants to re-process important liberal concepts against an increasingly reactionary neo-conservative mindset in our world.
